Our story

HiVis was established in 2017 by Ramon, who set out with a clear vision: to take his extensive experience in residential construction and create a building company of his own. What began as a one-man operation quickly grew into a team of 15 within just three years, with a strong focus on delivering quality unit developments and homes in Tasmania.

Over time, Ramon and Nicole realised that a smaller, more focused team allowed them to deliver better outcomes for their clients. HiVis operates with a tight-knit team of six, supported by a consistent and loyal network of trusted subcontractors. We continually review workmanship and pricing to stay competitive, ensuring every project – whether a new home build renovation, or commercial project – meets the highest standards.

Based in Hobart, we proudly deliver projects throughout southern Tasmania, including, but not limited to Sandy Bay, South Hobart, North Hobart, West Hobart, Primrose Sands, Sorell, Midway Point, the Huon Valley, Kingborough. As the market shifts and developers increasingly favour larger builders, HiVis is challenging this perception by showcasing the quality, capability, and personal service that only a small, dedicated team can provide.

Our projects

From ‘building services’ to ‘built’

In 2025, we took the opportunity to work on the business, rather than just working in it. We took the time to understand where our business stood in the market, and to gain some clear vision about where we want to take it. Let’s be honest – homes (and businesses) look different now than they did back in 2017 when we first started HiVis, but the foundations remain just as important.

We’re still the same people with the same vision as when we started, but like many of the homes we create, we’ve had a bit of a renovation ourselves. To reflect how far we have come, we have evolved our name to HiVis Built.

It’s not a huge departure from where we’ve always been, but the change from Building Services to Built carries a stronger message. It’s more than just construction; the word ‘built’ speaks to a stamp of respect, pride, and quality – a reflection of the care and attention we put into every project.

Ramon and Nicole Schenk

At the heart of HiVis are Ramon and Nicole Schenk, a husband-and-wife team dedicated to their business. Ramon brings years of hands-on experience in residential construction and unit developments, while Nicole draws on her background in education to keep the business grounded, organised, and client-focused (and to keep Ramon on his toes!). Together, they ensure every project runs smoothly, with care for our staff and our clients’ best interests.

Our team

As of August 2025, HiVis Building Services has a team of full-time carpenters, and we are always training our next generation by employing apprentices through Industry Group Training Organisations.

Our team has helped establish a strong reputation for meticulous attention to detail, consistently delivering high-quality projects with minimal defects. So much so, our expertise has seen us successfully complete partially finished projects, where clients have entrusted us to finish their project to the standards they require, and to be something they’re genuinely proud of.
